Galatians 5:16-23 teaches that at any moment we are either walking by the Holy Spirit or according to the sin nature. Walking by the Spirit, enjoying fellowship with God, walking in the light are virtually synonymous. During these times, the Holy Spirit is working in us to illuminate our minds to the truth of Scripture and to challenge us to apply what we learn. But when we sin, we begin to live based on the sin nature. Our works do not count for eternity. The only way to recover is to confess (admit, acknowledge) our sin to God the Father and we are instantly forgiven, cleansed, and recover our spiritual walk (1 John 1:9). Please make sure you are walking by the Spirit before you begin your Bible study, so it will be spiritually profitable.

Passage: Psalm 89:19-24
Series: 1st and 2nd Samuel (2015)
Duration: 1 hr 7 mins 50 secs
When you think of being humble what comes to your mind? Someone who is mealy-mouthed? Being afraid to stand up for yourself? Being a “doormat” that everyone walks on? Listen to this lesson to learn that humility is the highest virtue in the spiritual life and without it you cannot be a person after God’s own heart. Find out a biblical definition of humility and contrast it with its opposite which is arrogance. See that God is seeking people who have humility and hear three examples from the Old Testament of men who learned humility through the tests they endured. Hear Jesus’ emphasis in the New Testament on taking up your cross and following Him.

Passage: 1 Samuel 14:46-15:4
Series: 1st and 2nd Samuel (2015)
Duration: 59 mins 14 secs
Was King Saul of Israel a thoroughly bad king? Listen to this lesson to hear that he was a good king in certain ways when he protected the people and secured the borders of his country. On the other hand he, like so many believers, compromised with his sin nature and became blind to his own faults. He wanted to write his own rules and not obey God’s authority. See Samuel’s condemnation of this attitude and how he ordered Saul to kill the Amalekites. Understand that God desires us to obey Him and respect His authority more than outward shows of worship.
