Galatians 5:16-23 teaches that at any moment we are either walking by the Holy Spirit or according to the sin nature. Walking by the Spirit, enjoying fellowship with God, walking in the light are virtually synonymous. During these times, the Holy Spirit is working in us to illuminate our minds to the truth of Scripture and to challenge us to apply what we learn. But when we sin, we begin to live based on the sin nature. Our works do not count for eternity. The only way to recover is to confess (admit, acknowledge) our sin to God the Father and we are instantly forgiven, cleansed, and recover our spiritual walk (1 John 1:9). Please make sure you are walking by the Spirit before you begin your Bible study, so it will be spiritually profitable.

The Framework at Fifty

Fifty years ago, Pastor/Bible teacher Charles Clough began developing the Biblical Framework approach to address the hostile university culture that was taking many casualties among college students. He recognized the importance of not merely knowing what the Bible taught, but how it fit together as a significant whole.

Among the early listeners whose understanding of the Scripture and the importance of the intersection and interdependence of apologetics, exegesis, hermeneutics, and theology were George Meisinger, Randy Price, Tommy Ice, and Robby Dean.

The Framework approach recognized the need to deal not only with the parts of the Scriptures, but how they fit together or interlocked as a whole. Since then this approach has transformed the thinking of untold hundreds of university students, seminary students, as well as thousands of believers to think critically, to act effectively, and to recognize the agenda-driven errors of the culture around them.

The Framework examines how to counter the secular agenda especially as it has subtly impacted the thinking of Christians. Vital issues are addressed:

  • Why are we here on this planet?
  • Why does evil exist all around us?
  • What is truth?
  • Where can I find security?
  • Where is history going?
