Guillermo (Bill) Katz is a Jewish believer in Jesus. Born in Santa Fe, Argentina, he grew up in a secular Jewish home. Shaken by the death of several relatives within a short period of time and after attending their funerals, he had many questions about death and the afterlife. His mother told him that “when you die, you go to sleep forever” but this answer did not satisfy him and only opened the doors to more questions.
In April of 1980, a neighbor invited him to play volley ball at a youth group of an evangelical church. Guillermo became very impressed with the lives of the people at the youth group and decided to keep going despite the fact that they had a Bible study after every game. Skeptical at first (because he thought Jews did not believe in Jesus) his interest increased as he learned through the Bible studies that Jesus was Jewish and not Catholic as he had learned growing up in a Catholic country like Argentina. He finally became a believer in Jesus in September of 1980. Guillermo has been involved in missions to the Jewish people since 1985, serving as a missionary in places like Chicago, South Florida. and Buenos Aires, Argentina.
He graduated from Moody Bible Institute in 1990 with a B.A. in Jewish and Modern Israel Studies and from the School of World Missions at Fuller Seminary, having received his M.A. in Missions. Guillermo is married to Alejandra and they now reside in Houston, TX. He has been involved with Chosen People Ministries since 2000 and is now on staff in the Church Ministries Department.
