What does the Bible mean when it says Jesus will come soon or quickly? These words are at the center of a controversy over when Jesus will return. Preterists claim this means Jesus returned in AD 70 in clouds of judgment. One of the most important doctrines to understand is the imminency of Christ's return. If that means Christ can come at any moment, with no preconditions or other prophecies, then it means that none of the events of the Tribulation intervene.
Christ could return today or tomorrow! Are you ready?!

This is the second in a sub-series on the veracity of the Scripture. In this lesson we look at four key prophecies from the Old Testament that were literally fulfilled. These four examples are just a few of many that can be used to validate the Bible's claim to be the unique revelation from God to man.

On Tuesday and Wednesday (20-21 July) Dr. Dean attended a Wallbuilders (www.wallbuilders.com) event for pastors in Washington D.C. On Tuesday night, David Barton took us through a spiritual heritage tour of the U.S. National Capitol Building. In the process we learned a lot about the role Christianity and pastors played in the American War for Independence and in the founding and shaping the foundational ideals of this nation. We learned much that is no longer known, taught, or believed about the founding fathers.
Thursday night's lesson also completes the lesson which began on 4 July, "The Role of Christianity on the Declaration of Independence", and summarizes much of what we learned on the tour.

For those of you with Logos 3.0 (the notes transfer feature for 4.0 is not yet available)
Here is a wonderful present for all of you Bible students. A tremendous friend of DBM has used the transcripts from my Bible classes to create a massive note file for you Logos 3.0 PC users (the notes feature does not work in the Logos for Mac). If you download and insert this file into your My Documents/Libronix DLS/Annotations folder, then the next time you open Logos 3.0 to a Bible verse in a series I have taught then you will see some green, post-it, icons appear on any versified text (Bible, commentary, etc). When you put your cursor over those note files you can read what I taught on those verses. If you click on one, then the entire note file for all the verses will open, and you can navigate around those.
He also set up a different file that contains all of the doctrines I have taught (over 300) which you can load into your My Favorites folder in Logos 3.0. If you are like me, you may already have a large number of Favorites bookmarked so this may be a problem. Logos does not allow you to add favorites to your favorites folder in this manner. So if you put this into your My Documents/Libronix DLS/Favorites folder then it will replace what you have already marked. If you already have a lot of favorites marked, then you can place the Dr. Robert Dean Doctrines annotation file in the Annotations folder (My Documents/Libronix DLS/Annotations) and you can simply open it as a note file with all of the doctrines in alphabetical order.
If you do not have Logos 3.0, we have some disks at DBM we can send you. These disks are free. They were distributed by the ESV publishers and contain the Logos 3.0 program which is free and only one Bible, the ESV. But it will give you something. I do not know if you can still order basic packages from Logos in 3.0, you will need to call them to find out (www.logos.com).
For those with only Logos 4.0 you will unfortunately have to wait. The note transfer protocol will be released sometime in the next 4-6 weeks as part of the upgrade to Logos 4.0b. Until then you will just need to be patient.
If you are not familiar with Logos I suggest the Christian Leader's Library which I think is the most basic collection they offer. But remember, you can get the 3.0 at no charge by emailing staff@deanbible.org; but to get 4.0 you will need to order from Logos.
If you have questions about this please email staff@deanbible.org as the ladies in the office know nothing about its operation and I will need to answer those questions.
To download each file, right-click on the links below and select "Save Link as" or "Save target as" (depending on what browser you use). This will bring up a dialog where you can select where to save these files to on you drive.
There are three series currently being taught at West Houston Bible Church by Dr. Dean:
2004 Revelation: This series has moved to Tuesday evening Bible Class at 8:00 p.m. (see Kings note below). Dr. Dean began this study on Revelation in 2004. It continues into the central prophetic section of the Apocalypse. Beginning with Revelation 11 the scene shifts to other trends in the first half of the Tribulation leading up to the mid point when the Antichrist desecrates the Temple. Revelation 12-19 provides us with the picture of God's faithfulness to His people Israel as hundreds of thousands of Jews are saved and God brings Israel to national repentance and national redemption. There are numerous lessons in these chapters that relate to the present age and the spiritual life of believers caught in the web of persecution and attack.
2007 Kings: Sunday mornings at 10:30 a.m. This series began in November 2007 on Tuesday evening and moved to Sunday morning in March, 2009 due to the national crises. Currently we are in the center of the study (1 Kings 17-2 Kings 13). These chapters focus on the ministries of Elijah and Elisha during some of the most unstable and uncertain times in the history of Israel. Within 100 years of the glories of Israel under the reign of Solomon the nation had been ripped in two by civil war and the northern kingdom was dominated by the materialistic and sexually perverse fertility religion of Baal. Into this crisis the immutable word of God was proclaimed by these two magnificent prophets. Though these two men were great among Old Testament believers, they never had the resources every Church Age believer now has through our position in Christ, indwelling and filling of the Holy Spirit, and the completed canon of Scripture. However, through these chapters we can all learn how to face the economic, political, and military crises that have come upon the United States and the world in these dark days. This study will encourage you to stand strong in the Lord and the power of His might in tough times. In this series we are focusing on the faith rest drill, spiritual growth, facing the challenges of pagainism in our own thinking, our cultures, and solving these challenges with the eternal truths of God's Word.
Psa. 118:8-9, It is better to trust in the LORD, Than to put confidence in man. It is better to trust in the LORD, Than to put confidence in princes.
Prov. 3:26, For the LORD will be your confidence, And will keep your foot from being caught.
Prov. 14:26, In the fear of the LORD there is strong confidence, And His children will have a place of refuge.
2005 Hebrews: Thursday evening at 8:00 p.m. Hebrews is one of the most significant epistles in the New Testament for understanding the present session ministry of our Lord Jesus Christ in His royal High Priesthood, and why that is so vital for the believer to understand for his daily spiritual life and motivation. The heart of the epistle is in chapters 7 through 10.
The classes on all three of the above current series are live streamed from this website, and are available for downloading in audio and video formats.
It is no news that national immigration policy and enforcement has reached crisis proportions. Over the last couple of months, a multi-ethnic, cross-denominational organization of pastors, the Houston Area Pastors Council, has hammered out a biblically consistent recommendation and challenge to the leaders of this nation. The declaration can be found at
www.immigrationdeclaration.org.
On Wednesday, July 7 this policy was announced at a press release. Video of that press release maybe found at: Houston Churches Get In On Immigration (Fox 26 News)
