Galatians 5:16-23 teaches that at any moment we are either walking by the Holy Spirit or according to the sin nature. Walking by the Spirit, enjoying fellowship with God, walking in the light are virtually synonymous. During these times, the Holy Spirit is working in us to illuminate our minds to the truth of Scripture and to challenge us to apply what we learn. But when we sin, we begin to live based on the sin nature. Our works do not count for eternity. The only way to recover is to confess (admit, acknowledge) our sin to God the Father and we are instantly forgiven, cleansed, and recover our spiritual walk (1 John 1:9). Please make sure you are walking by the Spirit before you begin your Bible study, so it will be spiritually profitable.

Light from the Light Channel
January 2023 - March 2024

This series is from our YouTube channel "Light from the Light".

We based the channel on Psalm 36:9, “For with You is the fountain of life; In Your light we see light.”

From this verse, we learn that our knowledge and understanding must be illuminated by the light of God’s revelation. Frequently we see Scripture refer to God’s revelation, the Bible, as Light. Scriptural revelation may not tell us everything we want to know, but it tells us key things we need to know. Frequently, we must study, investigate, research, and dig into archaeological, linguistic, and historical studies to make certain that we understand God’s Word correctly. A wrong understanding of God’s Word will not be enlightening. Thus, in this ministry, the task is to utilize all of these areas of research to gain an accurate understanding of God’s Word, so that in that light we can gain illumination for the problems, challenges, and applications we need in our own life. Thus we will at times bring in experts in different fields, at other times bring in historical, linguistic, and theological material to expose the meaning of God’s Word the Bible. In His LIGHT, we will see light!

Philippians (2022)

Judges (2021)
January 2021 - May 2023

Judges is a book that is rarely taught on in any church. This is a tragedy because it is a book for our times. What is impressive about this book is the theme. The last verse in Judges: “In those days there was no king in Israel; every man did that which was right in his own eyes.” Judges was in many ways the dark ages of Israel’s history: they rejected the authority of God, they rejected the authority of Scripture, and in its place they substituted their own authority. In other words, instead of looking to God and His Word for absolutes and structuring all their thought under that umbrella they looked to the community, to one another, to themselves as the source of absolute right and wrong.

Has God Spoken? (2021)
October 2021 - April 2022
2 Peter (2019)
May 2019 - October 2021

“Fake News” has become an often-used term since the 2016 election in the USA. In the days of the early church, the problem became fake teachers. Fake teachers taught fake doctrine, fake theology. Fake teaching and fake theology lead to an impotent and phony spiritual life—a pseudo spirituality which has eternal consequences for the individual.

In this short epistle Peter warns of the soon-to-come false teachers in the churches who will lead people astray and will destroy spiritual lives and churches. However, before he developed that theme, he first reminded his readers of the foundation of faith, that they might be forearmed to stand against the Satanic counterfeits that would soon come and then, as now, take captive those believers who were still willingly in bondage to their sin natures. This study will open your eyes to the dangers and deceptions Satan instigates and the only true solution, growing in the grace and knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

1st and 2nd Samuel (2015)
February 2015 - November 2020

The quote from the title slide is from the words of a young David in 1 Samuel 17:37, “The Lord who delivered me from the paw of the lion and from the paw of the bear, He will deliver me from the hand of this Philistine”, that we derive the central theme for this study of 1st and 2nd Samuel, THE BATTLE IS THE LORD’s.

We all face overwhelming circumstances in our life and the only thing that can give us strength to overcome those horrific circumstances is a realization that it is not by our might or power, but by the power of the Holy Spirit. It is the only way that we can overcome and address the challenges that we have in life.

One scholar has praised the writing of Samuel: “It is no exaggeration to say that the author of Samuel produced what is still the best book ever written in the Hebrew language.”

In this series we will cover an array of significant biblical teachings on everything from how to face and surmount the giants in our lives, to biblical worship and praise, to the divine viewpoint of politics and leadership, to the importance of the Davidic Covenant and Messianic prophecies, and so much more. An understanding of these key teachings in Samuel is foundational to the rest of the Old Testament, the arrival and mission of the Messiah, the gospel, and many passages in the New Testament. Every believer should have a thorough understanding of the material covered in this series.

Note: Classes in this series are arranged with the most recent class appearing first.

1 Thessalonians (2013)
July 2013 - October 2018

Note: Classes in this series are arranged with the most recent class appearing first.

1 Thessalonians covers a period from roughly from November of AD 50 to January of AD 51. What marks Paul's ministry in Thessalonica is this opposition from the Jewish community and the persecution and oppression that rises out of that opposition. It is important to understand when we look at 1 Thessalonians because of part of Paul’s primary message there has to do with the reality of opposition, persecution and suffering in the life of the believer in the Church Age.

As we look at the epistle in terms of its basic structure and outline, it seems that there are two basic divisions. The first three chapters are very personal and intimate, and they seem to focus around the idea that the apostle Paul is encouraging the Thessalonians in terms of their response to the gospel, that they are indeed believers in the Lord Jesus Christ and this has brought forth evidence that is undeniable of their salvation. Then in chapters four and five we get a focus on the future, on the Lord’s return, and the implication of that for our walk with the Lord.

Video DVDs of these lessons can be ordered here and here.
