HPD, pastors brainstorm church security after Sutherland Springs
WHBC church leadership is implementing additional security procedures since the shootings at First Baptist Church in Sutherland Springs. Several of our leaders attended a recent seminar sponsored by the Houston Police Department for awareness and training.
Some security procedures have already been implemented while others are being developed at this time.
Security at West Houston Bible Church
Recently our pastor and the board of deacons began the process of developing a comprehensive security policy to insure the safety of our congregation. This security policy will incorporate surveillance technology as well as establishing a security team with key responsibilities. It will also establish detailed event reaction plans and evacuation strategies which you all will be made aware of.
To give the congregation a sense of how serious this is, we would like to invite you to view the following video that was presented to the board members who attended an event at the Houston Police Department 3 weeks ago. The video is entitled "Run, Hide, Fight, Surviving an Active Shooter Event".
This video emphasizes the importance of having a plan such as the one we are working on.
hould you have questions or comments on the subject please direct them to any one of the deacons.
